Barbara Losee's career in electrology was the outgrowth of personal
experience.
"I had electrology
myself and I have a great deal of compassion for my clients, " she
said.
Losee opened
Barbara's Electrology Studio Last month in the Mission Viejo Garden
Plaza.
Electrolysis
is the only means available of removing unwanted hair permanently.
Losee estimates that as many as 80 percent of American women have
some form of excess hair, many times in the facial area.
Losee uses two
different techniques to remove hair from the arms, stomach, bikini
line, face, and anywhere else that causes embarrassment. The "duel
blend" method uses a combination of electricity and heat, whereas
the "multi-probe" uses 16 needles at once and is most effective
for people who are sensitive to heat or are having the electrolysis
done in a sensitive area.
Although women
make up a majority of Losee's business, men also seek the services
of an electrologist for ear and nose hair, irritated collar area,
eyebrows, and shoulder and back areas.
Electrolysis
treatments are typically 15-30 minutes in length and fees vary.
"A lot of people
are nervous the first time they come in but then they usually relax
once they know what electrolysis is and how it works." Losee said.
Losee. . . .
. . . invites potential clients to come to her office for a complementary
consultation and first treatment.
